FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
SHOULD I TAKE MAT CLASSES OR PRIVATE LESSONS?
If you are taking Pilates for the first time, we highly recommend you take 4-6 private or semi-private lessons before you take mat classes. We believe it is important for you to have individual attention while you are learning the principles of Pilates. However, many clients do start with mat classes, which is fine. Our experience tells us that starting with private lessons and then changing to mat classes speeds progress.
ARE CLASSES DIVIDED ACCORDING TO EXPERIENCE?
We offer beginner, intermediate and advanced classes.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A CLASS?
A 24 hour notice is required to avoid a charge for the class, except in case of an emergency. With proper notice, a missed session or class may be made up.
HOW LONG IS EACH SESSION?
55 minutes
HOW MANY TIMES A WEEK SHOULD I TAKE LESSONS?
We recommend you train 2 to 3 times per week. If it is not possible for you to take lessons this often we will teach you exercises which can be performed at home.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY SESSION?
Wearing comfortable fitted clothing is suggested. This allows your instructor to observe your form and the muscles that you are using to perform the exercises. Buying expensive Pilates clothes is not necessary.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MY FIRST SESSION?
During your first private or semi-private session, your instructor will ask about your health, physical limitations and your goals. She will do a general postural analysis, discuss the principles of pilates and begin a personalized workout. During your first class, the instructor will review the principles of Pilates and begin a sustained workout according to the level of the participants.
HOW LONG BEFORE I START TO SEE RESULTS?
Generally, clients experience positive changes such as improvements in flexibility, balance, coordination, and abdominal strength in just 2-4 weeks. In 4-8 weeks, clients usually begin to feel an increase in muscle tone and a reduction in body fat. Results are individual and vary according to your body type, genetics, diet, lifestyle and stress levels. Of course, the amount of effort and commitment devoted to Pilates, will also determine results.Together, you and your instructor will design a workout that best suits you.
